With the Cavs leading 69-52 at halftime, Lue remained in the locker room and handed coaching duties to associate head coach Larry Drew. “I’m not sure exactly what it is,” Drew said when asked about Lue’s condition after the game. “I just know that before coming out in the second half, he wasn’t feeling well. And I thought that there was a chance

3:02 AM ET Stefano FusaroESPN NEW ORLEANS — For the second consecutive game, the coach opposing the Houston Rockets finished the night with an epic rant against the officials. This time, it was New Orleans’ Alvin Gentry, who fired off against the referees following the Pelicans‘ 107-101 home defeat. “The thing that bothers me more than anything, and I really don’t care, we try to play the right way, and we play our asses off,” Gentry said. “All we want is an equal opportunity to win the game. Not have a situation where we are guessing on the biggest play

Rory McIlroy blasts boozy fans and calls on PGA Tour to act

tourmiss Rory McIlroy has blasted boozy fans. McIlroy posted his lowest round of the 2018 PGA New Year with a five-under par 67 to move to 10-under par and just two shots behind Sweden’s Henrik Stenson. And while McIlroy was delighted also to have celebrated both St. Patrick’s Day and Ireland’s crushing Grand Slam win over England, he should not have had to deal with comments from a male specatator who should have been shown the Bay Hill front gates long before he began directing comments at McIlroy. “There was one guy out there who kept yelling my wife’s name,

Whitecaps see early red as Atlanta run riot

The Vancouver Whitecaps had a clear game plan heading into their road match against Atlanta United on Saturday night. An early red card changed that for Carl Robinson’s men. Josef Martinez had his fourth career hat trick to help Atlanta beat the Whitecaps 4-1. After Kendall Waston was sent off in the 14th minute, Atlanta United used the extra man to their advantage, scoring four goals to hand Vancouver Whitecaps their first defeat of the 2018 MLS regular season, 4-1 in Atlanta on Saturday evening. 0:59 Vancouver (2-1-0) played a man down, and from behind, for most of the match

Morocco takes on North America with $16B World Cup bid

Morocco would need to spend almost $16 billion US to prepare to host the 2026 World Cup, with every proposed stadium and training ground built from scratch or renovated, the bid said Saturday. With less than three months to go until the FIFA vote, the north African nation presented the first significant details of its proposal to take on the joint bid from the United States, Canada and Mexico. The North American bid plans to rely on existing infrastructure, including large NFL stadiums already hosting events. For the first time, a high-risk bid that does not meet FIFA’s expectations on

Rory McIlroy celebrates Ireland’s Grand Slam win with lowest PGA Tour score

Memo to drunken, obnoxious golf fans: Just shut up!

With all due respect to the new generation of golf fans at The Arnie and everywhere else on the PGA Tour, SHUT UP! Just SHUT UP! Quit yelling. Quit heckling. Quit thinking you’re part of the show. And while you’re at it, turn off your cell phones. Turn down the volume on your voices. Turn up your sense of decency and decorum. As Derek Britton, an Irishman who is one of the marshals at The Arnie said to a group of fans aggressively hooting and hollering as they followed Tiger Woods, “This is not a soccer match; it’s a golf

Masters champion Sergio Garcia holds incredible interview DURING child’s birth

Garcia kept a promise of hosting the phone conference at 8am Texas time and in the Texas capital where his wife was born and where her parents reside.

But in speaking with Garcia at last week’s Valspar Championship he indicated their baby girl was not due until next Sunday but then babies usually never stick to a birth schedule.

“It’s been an eventful morning,” said Garcia. “About an hour and a half ago Angela’s waters broke so we’re at the hospital right now, kind of checking in.

“It’s very exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. It’s kind of surreal. I’m excited and a little nervous for Angela and the baby to make sure everything goes well.

“It was supposed to be on Sunday but it looks like she is coming a little early. Everything looks good so we can’t wait.”

Garcia claimed his first major title at the 74th attempt at Augusta National last year, beating Ryder Cup team-mate Justin Rose on the first play-off hole. Three months later he married former Golf Channel reporter Angela Akins, whom he has credited with his recent success.

“Everybody that is around me is helping me, making me not only a better golfer but a better person,” Garcia said after his Masters triumph.

“It’s not easy, because I know how much of a hard-headed man I can be sometimes, but it’s been great.”

Now with some three weeks left to his defence of the Masters Garcia spoke of his excitement in returning to Augusta National.

“Obviously it’s been unbelievable, everything that has been going on. I mean, I’ve always said it, you know, I’ve been fortunate to have an amazing career and an amazing life, and now it’s getting even better with winning Augusta, with getting married to my best friend and amazing woman like Angela is and now having our first child,” he said.

“The last 12 months has been a lot of fun.

“We’ve enjoyed every minute of it, and we can’t wait for what the future is going to bring us. I’ve realized after winning the Masters, I realize how much bigger it is than I thought it was.

“Even though I thought it was massive, I realize how much bigger it is all over the world and how much people really look up to the Masters and the green jacket and everything.

“So, it’s been an amazing experience. It’s been awesome. It’s been a tremendous honor, and it’s probably, like I said, bigger than maybe I thought or expected. It’s been a fun ride.”

Garcia will remain in Texas, missing this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational and teeing-up next week in Austin at the $10m WGC – Dell Match-Play Championship.
