The 2018 Ryder Cup is just under a month away now with anticipation building ahead of the famous event.
Both sets of automatic places have been taken up, meaning those who have missed out will rely on a wildcard selection from their respective captains.
It has often been accurately predicted who will be selected, but every now and again one captain will select a rogue choice some may not have seen coming.
The Ryder Cup makes it’s debut in France this year with Europe looking to snatch the trophy away from USA after a resounding defeat in Hazeltine back in 2016.
When will Jim Furyk announce Ryder Cup wildcard picks for Team USA?
The USA eight automatic qualifiers were confirmed last month, meaning Jim Furyk has had plenty of time to mull over his wildcard selections.
But the USA captain will not reveal all four of his picks straight away.
Furyk will announce three of his four picks on Tuesday, September 4 at 10pm BST (5pm ET).
And the final wildcard slot will be announced after BMW the Championships on Monday, September 10 at 2pm BST (9am ET).
Ryder Cup 2018: Favourites for a USA wildcard pick
It is widely expected both Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods will receive a wildcard selection from Furyk for USA.
Woods has enjoyed an incredible comeback year in 2018, culminating in a second-place finish at the PGA Championship last month.
Mickelson has been a Ryder Cup stalwart, featuring in a record 11 teams previously.
Bryson DeChambeau, the current leader in the FedEx Cup, would also be hard pushed not to be selected following his extraordinary win at the Northern Trust.
That leaves one spot possibly open for the likes of Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele and Matt Kuchar.
